Our mission for the children is to guide self-discovery and encourage the expression of the Inner Christ through honest communication, joyful teamwork, and diverse experiences in the teachings of Unity.

Our Youth and Family Program at Unity of Sussex County is held at 11am, while the adults are celebrating Sunday Service.  We have opening “ceremonies” which include ringing a bell, lighting a candle on our altar and forming a circle to sing our Call to Worship song, “God is Good”; which is an echo song which I wrote specifically for the Youth Program.  The song incorporates the Five Basic Unity Principles that are the foundation of Unity.

After our opening, we present a lesson that coordinates with the message that Rev. Janice is presenting to the congregation.  We use story, and teach with a process called maeutics, which means “midwifery” or “birthing”.  Questions are asked to bring the children into the story, how it relates to the world and how it relates to their life.  We often do a craft or special projects to “pull it all together”.

At the end of Sunday Service, the children are sung into the Sanctuary where they sit on the platform.  The entire congregation blesses them with the Truth affirmation, “You are a perfect child of God and God and I love you just the way you are.”

Your children are a welcome and blessed presence in our community.  We look forward to meeting them.

Beginning Sunday, January 13, 2008, the Y.O.U. (ages 14-18) and
Uniteens (ages 10-13) will meet on alternate Sundays.  Uniteens will meet on Jan 13 and YOU will meet the next Sunday, and so on.   If your child comes to church on a week when their age group is not meeting, they will go to Sunday Service.  If you have any questions regarding these age groups, please contact Mo de Brito at 973-726-8271.

With childlike joy,
